Landscape Design in Flower Mound, TX

Designs of Eden is a landscape designer serving Flower Mound — Bridlewood, Wellington, Montalcino Estates and Chateau du Lac. Flower Mound sits on Cross Timbers sandy soils with one of the strongest tree ordinances in North Texas, and we design for both: plans that protect established post oaks and pass Chapter 94 review when it applies. 3D design from $2,500; 2D site plans from $750; $200 consultation credited in full.

Local expertise

A landscape designer who knows Flower Mound lots

Cross Timbers soil, not Blackland clay

Flower Mound sits in the Eastern Cross Timbers: sandy soils over sandstone, native post oak and blackjack oak cover — a different world from the Blackland clay east of town. Drainage is faster, the plant palette shifts, and established post oaks are famously intolerant of grade changes and root-zone disturbance. We design around them, not over them.

Chapter 94 tree rules — know when they bite

The town's Chapter 94 protects trees from 6-inch caliper up, but developed single-family lots under one acre are excluded from most of it. On one-acre-plus lots, and for specimen, majestic or historic trees anywhere, removals need a permit and an Environmental Conservation Commission hearing — with penalties up to $500 per caliper inch for unauthorized work. Our plans mark exactly which trees carry which status.

Two watering days, free help using them

Since March 2026 Flower Mound runs a mandatory two-day schedule — even addresses Tuesday and Friday, odd addresses Wednesday and Saturday, no sprinklers 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Upper Trinity, the town's main water supplier, offers residents free irrigation-system evaluations; we design drip-first so the schedule is enough.

Quarter-acre to lakeside estates

Flower Mound runs from quarter-acre SF-10 lots to one-acre-plus estates in Montalcino and Chateau du Lac on Lake Grapevine. The design brief changes with the scale — screening and composition on the quarter acre, master planning and phasing on the estates — and our tiers are priced the same way.

What You Get

A Complete Design System You Own Forever

Three deliverables — not one sketch.

A walkthrough video of your yard

Stand in your future landscape on your phone. See exactly how every plant, paver, and stone wall will look — at sunrise, at dusk, in full bloom — before we plant a single thing. Share it with your spouse, your in-laws, your designer friends.

Architect-grade 3D plans

The same modeling tools high-end residential architects use, applied to every inch of your property. Accurate to the foot. Buildable. Yours forever — even if you take the design to another contractor down the road.

A complete plant + material spec

Every species, every quantity, every supplier. No guessing what's in the design. No “wait, that's not what I expected” at install.

Most DFW landscape designers hand you a sketch and ask you to imagine it. A flat board with cut-out plants. A Pinterest mood board with vibes. You sign a contract, write a check, and hope.

We hand you a movie. You walk through your finished yard on your phone before we break ground — and approve every plant, every paver, every angle. No “I thought it would look different.” No surprises. No regrets.

Common questions

Landscape design in Flower Mound — FAQ

How much does landscape design cost in Flower Mound?

A 2D Site Plan runs $750–$2,000 for lots under about half an acre with planting-and-layout scope; photoreal 3D design starts at $2,500; one-acre estates like Montalcino or Chateau du Lac run $4,500–$7,500+ as phased master plans. The $200 consultation is credited in full and design fees credit toward installation.

Do I need a permit to remove a tree in Flower Mound?

It depends on your lot and the tree. Developed single-family lots under one acre are excluded from most of Chapter 94, but one-acre-plus lots — and specimen, majestic or historic trees on any lot — require a permit and an Environmental Conservation Commission review. Unauthorized removal runs up to $500 per caliper inch, so we mark tree status on every plan.

What grows well in Flower Mound's sandy soil?

Cross Timbers natives and adapted species that like fast drainage: the palette differs from clay-country lists a few miles east. Established post oaks set the design constraints — they resent grade changes and irrigation over their root zones — and the best Flower Mound landscapes are designed from the trees outward.

How do the watering restrictions affect the design?

Flower Mound allows two watering days per week (even addresses Tuesday/Friday, odd Wednesday/Saturday) with a 10 a.m.–6 p.m. sprinkler ban. We zone drip to the beds, keep turf purposeful, and Upper Trinity offers free irrigation evaluations to tune the system.

When should we start to install this fall?

Design takes two to four weeks and October–November is the prime North Texas planting window. Book the consultation by October 1 and the design installs in the window.
